Your Guide To Using BDO Online And Mobile App

What is BDO online banking?

As the name suggests, BDO online banking is Banco De Oro’s online access that provides their clients with easy access and tools to monitor and manage their money remotely. It’s a free service that their clients can easily access through an internet browser or by downloading the app. It aims to make banking a lot easier and more convenient for BDO account holders.

The basic features of their Online Banking and mobile app include the following:

  • Balance inquiry
  • Bill payment
  • Online fund transfers
  • Access transaction history

BDO online banking registration and activation

Enrollment for an online banking account in BDO comes in two parts: registration and activation. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can do that.

Registration

  1. Go to the BDO website: www.bdo.com.ph
  2. Click “Not Yet Enrolled? Enroll Now” button.
  3. You will be taken to the terms and conditions page. Simply tick the box that says you agree then hit submit.
  4. Complete the initial form.
  5. In the form, choose what type of online account you want to open: credit card or deposit account.
  6. Nominate a username and password. 
  7. Verify your credentials with your phone number. BDO will send you an OTP. 
  8. Fill in the captcha.
  9. Complete all the information needed and hit submit.

Registration can also be done through the BDO mobile app. After you download it from the App Store or Playstore, open the app and you’ll be presented with the same menu options as with the website application page.

Activation

Activation of a BDO online account varies depending on the type of account you’ve registered. The process for each is as follows:

Credit card account activation

  1. After the online registration for your credit card account, you will receive an OTP to your phone number.
  2. Simply input the OTP on the next page and hit the “proceed” button. 
  3. You will be shown a confirmation page saying that your registration and activation is successful. 

Deposit account activation (Debit card and other atm accounts)

  1. Go to a BDO atm after your online registration (it must be within 45 days from the time of enrollment).
  2. Insert your debit card into the ATM and click “Other Services” then “Activate Electronic Banking.”
  3. The machine will ask for your ATM activation code which was sent to you via SMS after your registration online.
  4. Dedicate a pin number.
  5. The ATM will print a receipt showing your successful activation. 

After the activation process, you can now log in to your online account via www.bdo.com.ph or through their mobile app using your dedicated username and password.

What services are available in the BDO online and mobile banking app?

There are a handful of things you can do with BDO’s online banking service, aside from giving you the capability to take a quick peek at your balance, you can do various transactions that can make your life easier and more convenient such as the following:

  1. Online balance inquiry
  2. Pay bills
  3. Transfer funds
  4. Pay your credit card
  5. Top up your GCash account
  6. Mobile phone reload

How to check your balance and transaction history in BDO online?

When you’re logged on to BDO’s online banking website, the homepage of your account will immediately show your current balance; the same goes for the app. To check your transactions on the website simply click the “My Account” option on the left-hand side of the screen and it will show another set of the menu on a dropdown list – choose “transaction history”.

You can do this faster using BDO’s mobile app’s “quick balance” feature.

How to activate the “Quick Balance” feature on your BDO app

  1. Log on to your account through BDO mobile banking app. 
  2. At the bottom of the screen, tap on “More” and choose “Settings”.
  3. Turn on the Quick Balance option and set your preferred expiry date for the feature. You can set it to have no expiry or 90 days for the minimum.
  4. Tap on “Continue” and then choose the account balance that you want to show in the Quick Balance feature.

  5. Hit ‘Save’ when you’re done. 

To check your balance through “Quick Balance”, simply open the app and choose the “Quick Balance” option at the login screen. You won’t need to log in to your account anymore to be able to check your balance.

How to transfer money using BDO online banking?

There are various online fund transfer options you can do with BDO’s online banking platform and app. You can do an interbank transfer, local bank transfer, instant bank transfer, even fund transfer to e-wallets!

Regular funds transfer to another local bank (3 business days) for both online banking and mobile app

  1. Log on to your BDO account via online banking or the app.
  2. Click “Send Money”, you can find the option at the bottom for the mobile app and on the left-hand side of your dashboard for the online banking account.
  3. Next, select “Send Money to Another Local Bank” on the dropdown menu. 
  4. Fill out the necessary field such as the account number and name of the account holder among the most necessary. 
  5. Review the details and then hit “Confirm” once done. 

Instant bank transfer through InstaPay

InstaPay is a fund transfer processor implemented by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to facilitate real-time money transfer from one bank to another. BDO is one of the banks who have integrated this feature into their platform.

Here’s how you can start transferring money in BDO via Instapay

  1. Log on to your BDO account via online banking or the app.
  2. Click “Send Money”; you can find the option at the bottom for the mobile app and on the left-hand side of your dashboard for the online banking account.

  3. Next, select “Send Money to Another Local Bank” on the dropdown menu then Choose “InstaPay”.
  4. Fill out the necessary field such as the account number and name of the account holder among the most necessary.

  5. Instapay will then send your phone a one time pin (OTP). Enter it to confirm and then hit confirm details. 

Sending funds through money remittance centers (cash pick up)

It’s also possible to send funds to anyone who doesn’t have a bank account. They can instead pick up their funds at any of BDO’s affiliated remittance centers.

Here’s how you can send the funds through this channel:

  1. Logon to your BDO account via online banking or the app.
  2. Click “Send Money”; you can find the option at the bottom for the mobile app and on the left-hand side of your dashboard for the online banking account. 
  3. Next, select “Send Money to Any BDO Branch/Partner”.
  4. Fill out the necessary fields such as the name and address of the account holder among the most necessary things.
  5. Review the information you’ve entered and click the confirm button. 
  6. Find the reference number for the transfer by going back to the “Send Money” option and looking for it at the “Transaction Status” of your “For Cash Pick Up” fund transfer.
  7. Provide the reference number to the recipient of your funds transfer.

Where can the recipient claim the money?

They can simply claim the money through the following remittance centers:

  • Cebuana Lhuillier
  • ML Kwarta Padala
  • RD Pawnshop
  • Villarica Pawnshop
  • Palawan Pawnshop 

What do they need to bring to claim the funds?

For the most part, remittance centers will only ask for two valid IDs to verify their identity.

How much is the limit of BDO’s online bank transfer?

BDO’s online transfer limit to a BDO and other banks is PHP50,000.

How much is the online transfer fee of BDO?

Moving money to another BDO account is free. Meanwhile, the fee for moving money to another account via InstaPay is currently waived due to their compliance to the government initiative for the pandemic. A fee for InstaPay transfer will eventually be implemented in the foreseeable future. 

How to pay bills using your BDO online banking or mobile app account?

It’s been long overdue but finally, online bills payment is now more common in the Philippines than it was a year ago. Pandemic or not, online bills payment can make our lives easier and safer. 

If you’re a BDO account holder, there are two ways for you to get around this – with a credit card or with a regular deposit account. 

Paying your bills with a BDO Deposit account

  1. Logon to your BDO account via online banking or the app.
  2. Click “Pay bills and reload”; you can find the option at the bottom for the mobile app and on the left-hand side of your dashboard for the online banking account. 
  3. The next screen will show you a bunch of dropdown menus, the first one being is choosing the account you’ll use to pay – the “Pay From” menu. Choose your BDO deposit account. 
  4. Find your biller or the merchant that you wish to pay under the “Pay This Company/Biller” menu. 
  5. You can choose the schedule when you want the payment to be done. Simply choose “Immediate” to pay the bill in real-time. 
  6. Then enter the amount you wish to pay then tap on “Continue”
  7. Review your payment details and hit “Confirm” once you’re all done. 

Paying your bills with a Credit Card account

  1. Logon to your BDO account via online banking or the app.
  2. Click “Pay bills and reload”; you can find the option at the bottom for the mobile app and on the left-hand side of your dashboard for the online banking account. 
  3. The next screen will show you “Pay Bills Using Credit Card” and then you can either “Charge on Demand” to make a one-time bills payment or “Auto Charge Arrangement” recurring payments. 
  4. Find your biller or the merchant that you wish to pay under the “Pay This Company/Biller” menu. 
  5. You can choose the schedule when you want the payment to be done. Simply choose “Immediate” to pay the bill in real-time. 
  6. Then enter the amount you wish to pay then tap on “Continue”
  7. Review your payment details and hit “Confirm” once you’re all done.
