Cebu Pacific Reduces Fare To Boost Tourism Amid COVID-19 Outbreak

Cebu Pacific announced on Wednesday that it will be reducing its fares for 70 domestic destinations, this is in line with the government’s initiatives to boost domestic tourism amid the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

In their announcement, promotional base fares for their local flights will be at PHP88. These flights will be originating from Manila, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Iloilo, and Zamboanga.

Cebu Pacific has also reported that they’ve increased their passenger capacity by an average of 44% by upgrading to larger capacity aircraft or additional flights. They expressed their desire to encourage Philippine residents to travel and explore the country more through this airfare reduction and increase of seat supply.

Their announcement came after the meeting between the stakeholders of the tourism industry and President Rodrigo Duterte. Thus, they agreed to lower airfare and hotel rates.

This initiative aims to counter the negative effects of the COVID-19 on tourism and to promote domestic tourism among locals.
