DTI Assures That Noche Buena Items To Remain At Their 2019 Price Tags
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ruth Castelo announced that Noche Buena items will be priced according to their 2019 prices this holiday season.
She said in an interview with GMA News TV’s Balitangahli on Tuesdays that some brands requested to increase their prices on Christmas food items, but the DTI denied it. She explained that they managed to convince these brands to cease increasing their prices through negotiations.
She further added that they forced the brands who increased their prices to rollback to 2019 prices instead. While many didn’t really increase their prices because they were persuaded beforehand to maintain their prices this year.
It can be recalled in earlier news that the DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said several manufacturers heeded the department’s call not to hike the prices of Noche Buena products amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
