It’s all systems go for the Philippine Identification System mandated under RA 11055 or the National ID Law, and among the regions where it will first roll out is Davao.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Director Ruben D. Abaro Jr, the national ID system is expected to be implemented by the last quarter of 2019. Thus, he encourages everyone to enroll.

The PSA is the lead agency who will be implementing the national ID system and they will be setting up a number of PSA-accredited registration centers where people can personally visit to have their biometrics captured. They are also looking at the possibility of running mobile registration centers in coordination with local government units.

“All persons and resident aliens” including children of 5 years of age and above are to register. However, children have to re-register with PSA during their teenage years to have their biometrics, recaptured.

The PSA-issued national ID will be given free and to be issued after personal information shall have been authenticated.
