TESDA Online Courses Accessible For Free During Lockdown
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is again informing the public that their online courses are now free for Filipinos who wish to learn a new set of skills during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
Currently, they have 68 short online courses in their catalog according to TESDA Director General Isidro Lapeña. Among the courses offered are massage therapy, basic computer operation, web development, bread and pastry production, and cookery. TESDA has been offering these online courses since 2012 and it has currently expanded its capacity to accommodate a larger number of enrollees due to the lockdown since mid-March. To encourage people to stay at home, TESDA is inviting Filipinos to enroll in their online courses.
Lapeña said in an interview:
“Because ang advise sa ating mga kababayan ay to stay at home to stop the spread of the coronavirus, para may ginagawa ‘yong mga kababayan natin, we expanded itong TESDA online [courses] natin.”
He also emphasized that there are no requirements to enroll, interested individuals only need to be computer literate. Enrollees can finish any course at their own pace and will be given a certificate of completion once the ECQ has been lifted because it would require their physical presence at their technical schools.
Those interested may register on the e-TESDA website.
From March 16 to April 27, over 260,000 Filipinos have registered for the online courses, where 60,347 have graduated, according to Lapeña.
