The Top Overseas Destinations According to the Philippines’ Best Travel Bloggers
There are exactly six long holiday weekends remaining in 2017. You can mark those dates and plan the staycations you’ll take along with it. But, if you really want to make the most of your time off, you need to summon your inner adventurer and explore the great outdoors—heck, get out the country!
To help you plan your vacations, here are some of the best tourist spots worth a visit, as suggested by the Philippines’ best travel bloggers.
TOKYO, JAPAN
Cherry blossoms in full bloom, the potent mixture of kawaii and old school culture, amazing food, and even more amazing sights—these are just some of the reasons tourists are flocking to the Land of the Rising Sun. Travel blogger Aileen Adalid of I Am Aileen has traveled to Japan numerous times but cites its capital, Tokyo, as an incredible destination that “seemingly has everything you can ever ask for in a city.” Adalid loves Tokyo so much she has arranged a detailed per-district guide of the city, outlining the different places and things a traveler should do while there—from the awesome nightlife in Shibuya to the fashion finds in Harajuku.
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
Travel blogger Gem Muzones of Travels With A Hobo offers one of the most practical tips to ensure that one can enjoy their time in Korea: “Give yourself enough time for a full 8-hour sleep.” Korea, especially Seoul, it turns out, can be quite tiring to traverse. That of course bodes well for tourists looking to visit culturally rich places. Theme parks, palaces, shopping areas, even river cruises: SoKor’s capital virtually has it all, and visiting each and every one should be preceded by careful, break-riddled planning.
BEIJING, XIAN, AND GUANGZHOU CHINA
History buffs will get a kick out of the China itinerary blogger Gay Emami and her partner took on, of which she wrote about on Pinay Travel Junkie. From scaling the Great Wall, to admiring the Forbidden City, all the way to viewing the greatest archaeological finds in Chinese history, their eight-day journey is not for the faint of heart (or those who aren’t fond of 20-hour train rides). The view and the memories it’ll bring though will be worth it. As Emami puts it, “we arrived as honeymooners during winter, determined to conquer the cold. We left with more than enough vivid, fond memories that could beckon us again someday.”
NEW YORK, USA
“They say that if you get bored in New York, it’s your own damn fault,” writes Lois, editor-in-chief of We Are Sole Sisters, a blog populated by different women from all over the world who share a love for travel. After all, it’s not called the City That Never Sleeps for nothing. The city is divided into five boroughs, each offering a unique experience. And because New York is one of the most culturally diverse places in the world, you’ll get to enjoy the best (food, fashion, art, etc.) of the many ethnicities that reside here. It’s also one of the best places to get lost at—whether at the vast landscape of Central Park, the bright lights of Times Square, or the artworks housed at its many museums. Getting bored here, indeed, is a hard thing to do.
PARIS, FRANCE
Who doesn’t want to go to Paris? It’s the most romantic city in the world, and arguably the most social media-friendly one, too. We’ve all “liked” and “heart’d” a Paris photo in our lives, while having one for a profile picture is on top of everyone’s Facebook to-do lists. There are literally hundreds of places you can visit in the city, and it can get pretty overwhelming to pick which ones to include in your itinerary. DJ Yabis of Dream Eurotrip knows this all too well, that’s why he advises first-timers to “visit the top tourist sites first and then just be spontaneous the rest of your days.” Among the spots you should absolutely visit are the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre museum, the picturesque hill of Montmarte, and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Enjoy each site, take all the photos you want, then wander off and explore!
